Earthquakes
Earthquakes are one of the most thought of studies when talking about Earth science. Earthquakes are caused when two or more tectonic plates rub together. The stronger the friction the larger the Earthquake. Somtimes when two plates get stuck together the pressure builds until they break apart. This is how the devistatingly large Earthquakes are made. Earthquakes can also be caused when a volcanoe erupts and shakes the ground.
This map is showing were clusters of volcanoes happen the most and the least.
An earthquake originates at the focus and the seismic waves go out in all directions. An earthquake is measured on a rictor scale.
