Pangeae
Pangeae was when all the continents were together. Scientists believe that the plates or continents push eachother in different directions to cause the continents to come appart. Scientists believe the plates move a certain distance every year and that the continents are the way they are because of the plate movement.
When there was only one continent (Pangeae) on the Earth, there was only one ocean and it was called Panthalassa.
Later, Pangeae broke up into two continents, Laurasia and Gondwanaland. After that, Laurasia broke into North America, Europe, and Asia, and Gondwanaland broke into Africa, Antarctica, Australia, South America, and India.
