Both earthquakes & valcanoes can shake the earth.Although that is true they are very different for example, earthquakes happen when plates run into each other or stick. But valcanoes are cracks in the earths crust that lava can escape through, which can cuase trembling because of the pressure that builds up.Also valcanoes can be in three states either active, dorment, or extinct. There is also two kinds of volcanoe explosions composite, sheild, and cinder, unlike earthquakes.
The biggest active valcano in the world is Muana Loa in Hawaii. It's whole volume is about 80,000 cubic kilometers. One in 10 people live within 'danger range' of an active volcano.Theres about 1510 'active' volcanoes around the world.volcanologists disagree on what should come under the term 'active',but the 1510 active volcanoes have erupted in the last 10,000 years which is what makes them active in the world of valcanoes. There's thought to be many more volcanoes on the sea bed though.
Now Earth have a rating system between one and ten, ten being the largest possible. The five biggest earthquakes in the world since 1900 were,
1.'Chile, May.22/1960 ,9.5'
2.Prince Willam Sound,Alaska,
March.28/1964, 9.4
3.Andreanof Islands,Aleutian Islands
March.9/1957, 9.1
4.Kamchatka, Nov.4 /1952, 9.0
5.Off western coast of Sumatra,
Indonisia, Dec. 26/2004
