The Earth has many layers. The most wildly studied is the Earths crust. There's two kinds of Earths crust.Theres Continental and Oceanic crust yes there is crust under the ocean! The Earths crust is made up of two layers. The Lithosphere and the Asthenosphere. The Lithosphere is first. The Lithosphere is made of many types of rocks and hundreds of minerals. These rocks and minerals are made of only eight elements, Oxygen, Silicon, Aluminum, Iron, Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, and Magnisium. Next comes the Asthenosphere. The Asthenosphere is below the lithosphere,
in which there is relatively low resistance to plastic flow and convection is thought to ocurr.
It is about 100-200 Km below the Earths surface-but perhaps extending as deep as 400 Km-that is the weak part of the upper mantle. It lies just below the lithosphere.
