P waves are the first waves to arrive . Primary waves are earthquake waves that compress and expand ground.

S waves: whe P waves and S waves reach the surface some of them are transformed into Surface waves. S waves move more slowly than P waves but S waves can produece severe ground movement.

In a normal fault is at an angle so one of the block of rocks lies above the falut while the other block lies below the fault. The half of the fault that lies above is called a Hanging wall, the fault that lies below is called the footwall
