Density-the state or quality of being dense; compactness; closely set or crowded condition
Isostasy-Equilibrium in the earth's crust such that the forces tending to elevate landmasses balance the forces tending to depress landmasses.
Plate techtonics-a theory of global tectonics in which the lithosphere is divided into a number of crustal plates, each of which moves on the plastic asthenosphere more or less independently to collide with, slide under, or move past adjacent plates.
Expanding-To increase the size, volume, quantity, or scope of
Strikeslip-the component of slip on a fault parallel with the linear extension or strike of the fault.
Compressing-To make more compact by or as if by pressing
P waves-the first waves to spread out from the epicener;moves in back and fourth motion
S waves-the second waves to spread from the epicenter;moves in a wave tipe of motion
Epicenter-Also epicentrum. Geology. a point, directly above the true center of disturbance, from which the shock waves of an earthquake apparently radiate
Stress-the physical pressure, pull, or other force exerted on one thing by another; strain.
Tension- the act of stretching or straining.
Fault-Geology, Mining. a break in the continuity of a body of rock or of a vein, with dislocation along the plane of the fracture (fault plane).
