Volcanoes
Volcanoes
are weak spots in the earths crust were magma flows underground and turns
to lava when it flows out of the volcanoe or comes out of a hot spot like
a blow tourch. Sometimes, instead of lava there is ash. One volcano that blows
ash is Mount St. Helens
.
( Mount St. Helens dome)
There are two different kinds of lava, slow moving lava with the consistincy
of silly putty. There is also thin liquidy lava that flows very fast.

( Thick slow moving lava is called aa, prononced ahah)

( Thin fast moving lava is called pahoehoe
)
Some volcanoes are dormant or sleeping and these volcanoes are likely to erupt.
volcanoes that are unlikely to erupt are called extinct or dead.A hot spring
foms when ground water heated by a near by body of magma rises to the
surface and collects in a natral pool.
In volcanic areas water heated by magma can provide a clean, reliable energy
source called geothermal energy.
Volcanoes are set off by earthquakes rumbleing the earth.
