Techniques

When playing soccer there are several different things you need to remember to help you play the game. You need to know techniques for shooting, passing, dribbling, and playing defense.

Shooting: When you are shooting a soccer ball you run up, place your foot that you aren't kicking the ball with and place it on that side of the ball.  Say you are kicking the ball with your right foot, you place your left foot on the left side of the ball and you swing your right foot around and hit the ball with the laces on your cleat.  Each different person has a different shooting range, and you can find your by finding how far yo9u can kick.  When shooting you should stay in your range and keep the ball to the corners, top or bottom.  You should also try to fake out the goalie in where you are shooting and shoot the other direction.

Dribbling:  You dribble by kicking the ball in front of you with either foot and run up to it, and continue this motion.  When dribbling you can decide how far ahead you want to kick the ball.  You can dribble farther forward to go faster and sprint up to the ball, you do this when you have an open field ahead of you.  You can also dribble closer to you and run up to it, you don't have to sprint for this.  You normally do this because an opposing team member is close to you and that it isn't easy for them to take the ball from you.  Dribbling is a main thing in soccer, and you have to know how to do it to play soccer.

Defense:  When playing a defensive position you want to kick the ball out to the sides and as far up the field as possible.  You also want to challenge the opposing team member that has the ball, before you challenge them you want to be sure that you are going to get the ball.  One thing that you need to know how to do is shadowing.  You shadow a person by staying about two feet away and moving as they move.  If they go left, you go left, and if they go forward you go the same way.  Another thing you need to know is layering.  Layering is when you back each other up, and so if a person gets past one person they still have 2 or 3 more people to get through.  Once the person in the front t has been beat than that person needs to go back behind one other person, so that its like an endless layer of people.  The first person to attack is the stopper, if beat they move behind.
