Drifting continents-

Theory of continental drift.

Wegener's hypothesis was that all continents were once connected and have since drifted apart. He believed that over 10 million years had drifted apart to today's present stage.

Evidence from landforms mountain ranges of the continental drift.

Evidence from a fossil-

A fossil is any trace of an ancient organism.

Wegener also used fossil to support his argument for continental drift.

Wegener used evidence of climate change to get support his theory for example from the island of Norway.

This land is ice covered and has a harsh polar climate. But fossils of tropical plants are found on spits bury. When these plants live about 3 millions of years ago the island must have had a warm and mild climate. Although Wegener's theory was rejected, he kept on collecting data.

Sea floor spreading.

Mapping the mid ocean ridge, the coast pacific rise, just one part of the mid ocean ridge, The longest chain of mountains in the world in the 1900, scientists mapped the mid ocean ridge using sonar.
