Tension, like pulling apart warm bubble gum, compression, squeezes rock until it folds or breaks. Shearing, is when masses of rock head in opposite directions.3. A change in the Earths volume is called deformation.
C. Kinds of Faults
- One kind of fault is called a strike-slip fault.That is where rocks on either side of the fault slip past each other with little up and down motion.
Another fault is a normal fault.A normal fault occurs when one block of rock is under the other one.
