Dissolved Oxygen
(D.O)

D.O Movie

Dissolved Oxygen is an indicator of the health of water ecosytems. The rangecan be from 0-18 ppm (parts per million) of D.O., some natural water systems require 5-6 ppm. Algae growth increases as Dissolved Oxygen levels decrease when waste water enters a body of waters. If you look down, there is a scale of ppm for example, the striped bass could not live in no less then 5 ppm. Dissolved Oxygen, beacuse they could die if they get to much parts per million(ppm) in the water.

Down below there is a picture of a scale of D.O criteria. It shows how much the min. amount of oxygen mg/l of water needed to survive by species.
